On August 25 & 26, the Oakland Chinatown Chamber of Commerce (OCCC) will be presenting its 25th Annual Chinatown StreetFest. In celebrating the Year of the Dragon, the Chinatown StreetFest will attract thousands of people from all over the Bay Area to come savor the taste of Asia, and to experience the traditions that Oakland's Chinatown has so diligently preserved.
The two-day event runs from 10AM to 5:30 PM and is free to the public. Consisting of more than 200 booths, the festival will span nine to ten blocks of Chinatown. Every year small businesses and community organizations from all over California come to showcase a myriad of delicious foods, unique Asian products, and special services. There will be arts & crafts, entertainment on two stages, and a Cultural Village presented by the the Oakland Asian Cultural Center.

Getting to the Festival ...
Festival attendees are encouraged to take BART. Get off at the 12th Street Oakland station and exit to 11th Street. When you get up to street level, you will be at 11th and Broadway. Walk down Broadway towards 9th Street until you see the Streetfest. The festival spans 7th Street to 11th Street and from Broadway to Harrison Street.

Entertainment Spotlight: Great Wall Youth Orchestra
Great Wall Youth Orchestra will be appearing at the StreetFest Cultural Stage on Saturday August 25th at 2:15PM
The Great Wall Orchestra is a Chinese youth orchestra created by the Purple Silk Music Foundation, an Oakland-based nonprofit that provides a music education program for inner-city youth.
Student members range from elementary to high school age and play pieces that reflect their high level of skill in playing their chosen Chinese musical instruments.
Many of the students are recent immigrants or first-generation Americans, and the orchestra offers a special connection between their origins and heritage and their life in the United States.
Great Wall performs at many local venues throughout the year. Increasingly, they are invited to perform outside of the San Francisco Bay Area, even abroad.
Club 90 will be appearing at the StreetFest Popular Stage on Sunday, August 26, 2:00PM.
The 90s was a musical decade that is quickly becoming the top choice for audiences of all ages. From Nirvana to Whitney Houston, from Katy Perry to the Black Eyed Peas, Club 90 will be performing a high-energy show featuring the pop hits of the 1990s.

The Patty Chu Chinese Folk Dance Troupe performs folk dances of the various ethnic minorities of China. Many people have the misconception that China is a very homogeneous society. However, there are 55 officially recognized ethnic minorities in China, each with its own unique culture. Patty Chu Dance Troupe's show always features a variety colorful costumes representing a specific ethnic minority. Most of all, their graceful stage presence and technical skills always make a good impression on the audience.
